Electronics and Communication Engineering

About the Department

Electronics and communication engineering is one of the most important and influential fields that revolutionized the Information Technology era. The rapid advancements in this domain have penetrated everywhere, making it a backbone and driving force across all engineering disciplines.

Electronic devices and gadgets aim at enhancing the quality of life, whereas communication facilitates the exchange of data between these devices. The world is witnessing demand for billions of electronics & communications products, making this branch a coveted option. This branch lays a strong emphasis on the fundamentals to develop analytical and design skills in students to solve complex engineering problems in sectors like Agriculture, Health, Defense, Automation, and many other applications.

Electronics and Communication Engineering is concerned with the design, development, manufacture, and application of electronic devices, circuits, and systems. Electronics and Communication Engineering lays greater emphasis on a deep understanding of fundamental principles and state-of-the-art knowledge about Electronic Devices and Circuits, Computer Architecture and Microprocessors, Electromagnetic Field Theory, VLSI, Digital Signal Processing, Embedded systems,  Analog and Digital Communication, Microwave and Broadband Communications. The department is continuously engaged in building the capacity of students to become competent engineers in cross-disciplinary domains too.

The department offers a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and communication degree course under the affiliation of VTU, Belagavi with an intake of 60 and was started in 2003. The department has a well-qualified and experienced faculty with a healthy student-to-staff ratio of 16:1, out of which two are doctorates, seven are pursuing Ph.D., and the remaining are post-graduates. Faculty members have their credit in technical papers published in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. They are also members of several important academic bodies.
